Hit-and-run Driver Kills Pedestrian in Westwood

WESTWOOD, CA (December 17, 2018) – A man who was walking on Sunset Boulevard Saturday night in Westwood was struck and killed by a hit-and-run driver. The December 15 accident occurred in the 10200 block, a bit to the east of Beverly Glen Boulevard, the Los Angeles Police Department said.

The time was roughly 10:15 p.m.

According to reports, the man—who was identified in reports only as male, and possibly a transient—had been walking in a stretch of Sunset Boulevard that is winding and dark.

Respondents arrived and pronounced the man deceased at the accident scene.

According to police, the vehicle—which has not been described—left the accident scene and drove away after it hit the man. Investigator Rudy Molano, who is with the Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner-Coroner, described the victim as in his 30s.

No details have yet been reported on the hit-and-run driver.

Reports say the the city of Los Angeles offers a standing reward of $50,000 for information that leads to hit-and-run drivers involved in fatal accidents being captured and convicted.
