Pedestrian Struck and Killed by Two Vehicles in Hit-and-run in Vista
VISTA, CA (May 15, 2019) – A person who was walking was struck and killed in an intersection in Vista early in the morning on Wednesday. The May 13 incident occurred on W. Vista Way in the 600 block, where it intersects with Melrose Drive.
The time was roughly 4:30 a.m., deputies said.
Reports say two vehicles struck the pedestrian. According to investigators, the victim was first hit by a vehicle that is a Dodge Ram 1500 or 2500 pickup, silver in color. Hernan Gonzalez, who is a sheriff’s sergeant, said the truck probably has damage to its front end.
Witnesses said the second vehicle was a sedan, silver in color, but authorities do not have a description of the make and model, according to David Perkins. Perkins is a sheriff’s lieutenant.
From reports, neither vehicle stopped and remained at the accident site to help the victim.
Respondents transported the victim to Palomar Hospital. He later died from his injuries. He was 60 years old. His name and city of residence have not been reported.
Investigators are continuing their work to identify the vehicles and the suspected hit-and-run drivers.
