Crash Near Vista Kills 19-year-old Driver and a Passenger
VISTA, CA (April 2, 2021) – On Thursday night near Vista, a crash killed a teenaged driver and a passenger. The April 1 incident occurred near I-15 and to the west of it, in the vicinity where Lawrence Welk Drive and Lawrence Welk Court intersect.
The time was roughly 10:30 p.m., according to Juan Escobar. Escobar is an officer with the California Highway Patrol.
The teen driver was traveling on Lawrence Welk Court and heading east in a vehicle described as a Toyota Scion. A person who had been traveling as a passenger in the front of the vehicle was described only as a man.
The Toyota continued through where Lawrence Welk Drive intersects and, for reasons that are not known, the Toyota crashed down a slope.
Responders arrived and pronounced the both of the occupants of the vehicle deceased at the crash site. The teen was identified only as 19 years old. The man who had been the passenger was not identified.
Investigators are working to understand why the crash happened.
