Crash Involving Burning Big Rig Blocks Gopher Canyon Road Near Vista
VISTA, CA (July 29, 2019) – A crash in the morning on Monday, involving a big rig that rolled over and erupted in flames, blocked a road that leads to I-15 in the San Diego County area of Vista. The July 29 incident occurred on Gopher Canyon Road in the 3300 block, near I-15 and to the west of it.
The time was roughly a little after 6:30 a.m., the California Highway Patrol said.
Reports say a big rig crashed, and the truck—which had overturned—caught fire. It is not known from reports why the truck crashed, and rolled over. According to a witness, flames erupted from the truck shortly after the crash.
Responders arrived on scene. Reports do not say if anyone was injured in the incident. The person who had been driving the truck has not been identified, including the person’s name, age, gender, and city of residence. It is not known if anyone else had been traveling in the truck.
Gopher Canyon Road was completely blocked by the crash, reports say, and drivers could not reach I-15 from it. Investigators are working to understand why the crash happened, and what factors contributed to it.
