Man Struck and Killed on Vineyard Avenue in Ventura County’s El Rio Area

EL RIO, VENTURA COUNTY, CA (December 19, 2019) – Ramon Aparicio was struck and killed by a vehicle on Saturday night in El Rio in Ventura County. The December 14 incident occurred on Vineyard Avenue near Central Avenue.

The time was roughly 5:40 p.m., according to the California Highway Patrol.

Reports say Aparicio had been walking across Vineyard Avenue when a vehicle—which has not been described—hit him.

Responders arrived and pronounced Aparicio deceased at the incident site. He was later identified by the Ventura County Medical Examiner’s Office. Aparicio was 57 years old, and a resident of Oxnard.

The person who had been driving the vehicle remained at the incident site and cooperated with the investigation. The driver was identified only as a man 30 years old. His name and city of residence have not been reported.

Investigators are continuing their work to understand why the accident happened. They are collecting details and information regarding the incident.
