Woman Killed in Ventura County Crash on Pacific Coast Highway
VENTURA COUNTY, CA (February 3, 2021) – Daniella Marie Martir was killed early in the morning on Monday when the vehicle she was driving went off of Pacific Coast Highway in Ventura County. The car fell into the ocean in the February 1 incident.
The time was roughly 1:37 a.m., the California Highway Patrol said.
Martir had been heading south on Pacific Coast Highway in a Volkswagen Jetta. In an area near Thornhill Broome Beach, and to the south of it, the vehicle went out of her control, for reasons that are not known.
The car went off of the roadway, and fell into the ocean below.
Responders from Ventura County and Los Angeles County fire departments arrived on scene, as well as from the California Highway Patrol, the Ventura County Sheriff’s Office, and the Coast Guard.
Responders removed Martir from the car. They pronounced her deceased at the crash site.
Martir was a resident of Valley Village, 19 years old.
Reports say responders searched extensively by land, sea, and air to ensure no other occupants had been traveling in the vehicle.
Investigators are continuing to work on the incident.
