Man Killed in Motorcycle Crash on South Coast of Ventura County
VENTURA, CA (August 6, 2019) – Chad McManus was killed in the afternoon on Sunday when the motorcycle he was riding crashed, and he was struck by a vehicle. The August 4 incident occurred on Pacific Coast Highway near Sycamore Cove and Mugu Rock, and to the south of it.
The time was a little before 12:30 p.m., according to the California Highway Patrol.
Reports say the motorcycle had been traveling on Pacific Coast Highway and heading north. For reasons that are not known, McManus lost control of the motorcycle and he fell from the bike.
According to the California Highway Patrol, McManus skidded over the road surface of the highway. A vehicle—described as a Ford Explorer—struck him.
Responders from Ventura County Fire and the California Highway Patrol arrived to help the victim. McManus was pronounced deceased at the accident site. He was 32 years old and a resident of Simi Valley.
The person who had been driving the pickup truck has not been identified in reports, including name, age, gender, and city of residence. Reports say no one else was hurt in the crash.
Investigators are continuing to gather information regarding the crash to understand the circumstances surrounding it.
