Woman Crashes Stolen Car During Police Chase Through The East San Fernando Valley
Van Nuys, CA (July 9, 2024) – A woman was taken into custody after leading police on a high-speed chase in a stolen vehicle, culminating in a crash. The pursuit began near De Garmo Avenue in Sun Valley shortly before noon on Tuesday.
According to the Los Angeles Police Department, the incident started when officers attempted to stop the woman driving a suspected stolen car. Instead of pulling over, she fled, prompting a chase that extended from Sun Valley to Panorama City. During the pursuit, the woman drove erratically through industrial areas, discarded items out of the car window, and intermittently stopped the vehicle only to speed off again.
LAPD Deployed The Spike Strip To Slow Down The Fleeing Driver
Despite police deploying a spike strip in an effort to halt the chase, the suspect continued to drive on. The chase ended when officers confronted her with guns drawn, forcing her to stop the vehicle. She was subsequently arrested and taken into custody.
Authorities have not released any further information about the woman involved in the incident.
