Valley Center Crash on Valley Center Road Kills Driver
VALLEY CENTER, CA (November 18, 2020) – On Tuesday afternoon in Valley Center, a driver who was attempting to pass a slower vehicle crashed and was killed. The November 17 incident occurred on Valley Center Road close to where Rock Hill Ranch Road is located.
The time was roughly 1:15 p.m., the California Highway Patrol said.
The driver of an Acura TL tried to pass another vehicle, described as a Toyota Highlander, which had been moving more slowly, reports say. As the driver of the Acura tried to pass, the Acura sideswiped the Highlander.
The impact sent the Acura to veer off the road. It smashed into a a tree and a power pole, reports say.
According to Mark Latulippe, who is a public affairs officer with the California Highway Patrol, the driver of the Acura was killed in the crash. He had been traveling alone in the vehicle.
The driver’s identity has not been reported.
The person who had been driving the Highlander was not hurt in the crash, nor were six children traveling with her in the vehicle, according to reports. The identity of the Highlander’s driver has not been reported.
Investigators are working on understanding the incident.
