Usher’s Son was Seriously Injured in Pool Accident

Grammy-winning R&B artist, Usher’s oldest son, Usher Raymond V, has been hospitalized in Atlanta on Monday. The 5-year-old was injured while swimming.

According to an incident report, the boy was playing in the pool when his arm got stuck in the drain. Apparently, he had dived down to free a toy that had gotten stuck. After his aunt Rena Oden and a maid were unable to free him, two contractors who were working in the home rushed to help, pulling the boy from the pool and giving him CPR.

Afterward, one gave CPR to Usher V and revived him — after which the boy was transported to a hospital “conscious, alert, and breathing.”

Grammy-winning singer, Usher, made sure to express his gratitude to the men who saved Usher V.

“I would especially like to thank the two men who saved my son’s life, Eugene Stachurski and Ben Crews,” Usher said. “They are true heroes and I am deeply grateful to them.”

Usher Raymond V, and Naviyd Ely, 4, are the singer’s sons with his ex-wife, Tameka Foster. The former couple long bitterly battled over custody of the boys before Usher ultimately won primary custody last year.

Foster filed for an emergency custody request late yesterday, which is being processed now. Emergency custody orders are used when it appears to the court that removal of the child is in his or her best interest.

Usher Raymond, 34, was not present at the time of the accident, and Tameka Raymond asked that the hearing be set for Friday.

According to the motion, Tameka claims there is a “substantial change in circumstance materially affecting the welfare of the minor children.”

In the motion, Tameka Raymond accuses Usher of “negligence and failure to properly supervise the minor child.” She also claims he uses “third-party caregivers” as much as 85 percent of each month, when he is out of town working on “The Voice” and his new album.

She also mentions Usher’s failure to discuss parenting issues with her, including the school the children are enrolled in, which is an hour away from her home.
