Two people were killed and five others were injured in a four-vehicle car crash that occurred early Thursday morning. The accident happened on the Santa Ana Freeway in the Irvine area, according to authorities. The accident happened about 4:40 a.m., closing all northbound lanes for several hours.
Seven people were injured, two of whom died at the scene. Three survivors were transported to an area hospital for treatment of moderate injuries, one was transported for treatment of minor injuries, and one was treated at the scene.
Two vehicles stopped in the HOV lanes. One was disabled and the other vehicle stopped to help. A gray Toyota Camry slammed into the two parked vehicles. The Camry then hit two other vehicles before coming to stop. The driver and passenger in the Camry, a male and female, were killed. It wasn’t clear if the two died at the scene.
The cause of the crash is still be investigated. The names of those involved haven’t been released. No update hasn’t been released on the conditions of the survivors. It isn’t clear if drugs or alcohol were the cause of the accident.
