Two Big Rigs Collide on Highway 101 in Gaviota, CA
GAVIOTA, CA (August 24, 2022) – Late in the morning on Monday in Gaviota, a collision involving two big rigs stopped traffic on Highway 101. The August 22 crash occurred close to where Mariposa Reina is located, on the northbound side of the roadway.
The time was roughly a little before 11:00 a.m., Santa Barbara County Fire said.
No details have been reported on how the crash happened, or what led to the crash. According to Caltrans and the California Highway Patrol, at the time of the collision, fog was occurring in the area.
Responders found one person involved in the crash suffered injuries that were described as minor.
The identity of the person is not known from reports.
No one involved in the crash has been identified.
Investigators are continuing their work to understand the crash and its causes.
