Early this morning, October 26, 2011, a woman was injured when a Capitol Corridor train in the Decoto district hit her vehicle, a spokeswoman for Alameda County Fire told the Silicon Valley Mercury News. The 7:50 a.m. accident occurred at the intersection of Railroad Avenue and H Street.
The elderly woman’s car became stuck in the railroad crossing, and she was unable to move it from the area between the crossing arm and the railroad tracks. She could not back up, according to police Lt. Ben Horner, as reported in the Mercury News’ story.
The approaching train clipped the woman’s vehicle, damaging the front, and pushing the car roughly the length of a block.
Responders took the elderly woman, who expressed feeling pain, to the hospital. No other details were available.
