One Killed In Deadly Crash on 5 Freeway Near Fresno
Fresno, CA (December 2, 2024) — A deadly multi-vehicle collision involving a tractor-trailer and a car left one person dead and five others injured early Monday on the 5 Freeway near Fresno.
The California Highway Patrol (CHP) reported that the crash occurred at approximately 12:05 a.m. in the northbound lanes of the freeway. A 2025 Volvo tractor-trailer, traveling at around 60 mph, failed to stop behind a 2011 Subaru Outback that was stationary behind a 2023 Freightliner tractor-trailer. The impact pushed the Subaru into the rear of the Freightliner.
One Passenger In The Subaru, Not Wearing A Seatbelt, Died In The Crash
A 24-year-old passenger in the Subaru, who was not wearing a seatbelt, tragically died at the scene. The driver and four other passengers in the Subaru sustained minor to moderate injuries and were treated by emergency responders.
Both tractor-trailer drivers escaped the crash unharmed.
Authorities are continuing their investigation into the circumstances surrounding the collision. The CHP has asked anyone with information about the crash to come forward.
