A mother and her 2-year-old toddler were injured Sunday morning when they were struck by a car in North Hollywood. Both were hospitalized with injuries.
The crash happened at 10:30 a.m. as the two were crossing the street at Burbank Boulevard at Bakman Avenue. The intersection is unmarked, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.
According to witnesses, the driver of a Toyota sedan appeared to be traveling the speed limit and may have been trying to avoid another car when the driver hit the mother and daughter. The impact allegedly threw the pedestrian about 10 feet across the street.
Two people helped get the toddler out from under the Toyota where she was trapped. It was not clear what injuries the toddler and mother suffered.
There is no traffic light or stop sign at the intersection and police said no crime been committed. The condition of the mother has not been released along with the names, which are still unknown. The cause of the crash is still being investigated even though no crime has been committed.
