Drew Haines, a CSUB women’s water polo player underwent surgery on her back on Monday, January 18, 2010. Her injury was he result of a car accident. The surgery was reported with positive results. Screws were put in her back. All movement was said to have been restored.
Ms. Haines participation in water polo has been restricted temporarily.
The accident occurred Monday morning in heavy rain on Interstate 5 going north near Santa Clarita.
Coach Jason Gall said the car spun, crossed two lanes and hit the median.
Haylie Glandon sustained non-life threatening injuries. She was treated and released. A fellow polo player, Kerinn Fields was kept at the hospital over night.
Glandon had regained her mobility by Tuesday and was back at school with cuts and bruises. Fields rested at home where she will remain for several days.
The three will miss the season tournament. They were visiting one of the player’s homes and were returning to campus when the accident occurred.
