Three teens died in an auto accident in June of 1987. They were celebrating their high school graduation.

In the early morning hours, the driver lost control of the car, killing all three occupants.

Alcohol did not appear to be a factor in the crash.

Other graduates have lost their lives in car accidents on graduation nights. Alcohol was sometimes a factor.

After this accident the community organized to plan a safe, supervised graduating event. The event was called Grad Nite.

It is currently in its 28th year. There is an expected attendance of 500 students. The committee has organized 500 volunteers to staff the event.

The event includes an all you can eat buffet and bar-be-que.

There has not been one death of a graduating senior since the event began.
