Lancaster Wrong-way Crash Kills Three Children and Two Adults
LANCASTER, CA (June 7, 2021) – Three young children and two adults died in a wrong-way crash in Lancaster, which occurred on Friday morning. The June 4 incident happened on Avenue G, close to north 30th Street.
The time was roughly 9:00 a.m., the California Highway Patrol said.
A vehicle–described as a Dodge Challenger–had been westbound on the road, and for reasons that are not known, went into the lane of opposing traffic. The car collided head on with a big rig, which had been traveling east.
Five people were traveling in the Dodge. They were identified as the driver, 62 years old. Her name has not been reported. She died at the crash site.
A woman, who was a passenger, was identified as 59 years old. Her name has not been reported. She was transported by airlift to Holy Cross Medical Center. She was pronounced deceased in the hospital.
The children were identified as three boys, ages 5, 6, and 9 years old. The 6-year-old boy and the 9-year-old boy were taken to Antelope Valley Hospital. The boys died in the hospital.
The five-year-old boy was taken by airlift to Children’s Hospital of Los Angeles. He later died from his injuries.
All of the people who had been traveling in the car were Lancaster residents.
The person who had been driving the big rig suffered injuries that were described as minor. He was identified as Santos D. Torres, a resident of Corona, 44 years old.
Investigators are working to understand why the crash happened. They are continuing their efforts to collect details and information.
