Suspected DUI Crash on Temple City Blvd. Leaves 2 Dead
Temple City, CA (August 17, 2024) — A tragic accident claimed the lives of a mother and her 10-year-old daughter on Saturday afternoon in a suspected DUI crash on Temple City Boulevard.
The incident occurred around 1:00 p.m. on August 17, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department. A Toyota Scion xB was attempting to turn north when it struck a curb, swerved into the southbound lanes, and collided with a Honda CR-V in the 4400 block of Temple City Boulevard.
Mother and Daughter Pronounced Dead At The Scene
Emergency responders arrived swiftly, but tragically, the mother and her daughter were pronounced dead at the scene. Authorities have not yet released their identities.
The woman’s husband, who was also in the vehicle, sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was taken to a hospital for treatment.
The driver of the Toyota was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence, causing injury, driving with a suspended or revoked license due to a prior DUI conviction, and driving with willful or wanton disregard for safety. The suspect, who suffered major injuries in the crash, underwent surgery on August 19.
A passenger in the Toyota also sustained injuries in the collision.
The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department is continuing to investigate the fatal crash.
