Three People ID’ed as Victims Killed in Tehachapi Plane Crash
TEHACHAPI, CA (February 26, 2019) – Marina Villavicencio, Felipe Plascencia, and Ruben Piranian were identified as the victims who died in a plane crash on Thursday in the Tehachapi Mountains. The February 21 accident occurred sometime on Thursday, when the flight—which had left San Luis Obispo and was heading to Los Angeles—was noted to be overdue.
Reports say that authorities from Kern County found the wrecked plane Saturday, and that much of the plane—described as a twin-engine Beechcraft—was buried by five feet of snow.
Authorities worked during the weekend to remove the bodies from the wreckage. Villavicencio was identified as a resident of Yorba Linda; she was 38 years old. Felipe Plascencia was identified as a resident of Whittier; he was 53 years old. Ruben Piranian was identified as a resident of Granada Hills; he was 74 years old.
A federal investigation is underway to understand the circumstances that led to the crash. Currently, no details have been reported on why the plane went down. Investigators will examine the evidence to understand the sequence of events that led to the incident.
