Woman Identified as Victim Killed in Taft Motorcycle Crash
TAFT, CA (January 6, 2021) – Courtney Curtis was identified by the Kern County Sheriff’s Office as the woman who was killed last month in a motorcycle crash in Taft. The December 26 incident occurred on 6th Street in the 1100 block.
The time was roughly 11:48 p.m., according to the Sheriff’s Office.
Curtis had been riding as a passenger on a motorcycle driven by a man who was identified only as a resident of Taft, 22 years old. His name has not been reported.
Reports say that motorcycles were traveling in a group and going northbound on Sixth Street. For reasons that are not known, one of the motorcycles smashed into the curb during the ride. The force of the crash threw the two people who had been on the motorcycle to the ground.
Curtis died at the crash site. She was a resident of Taft, 27 years old.
The driver of the motorcycle was transported by airlift to a hospital in Bakersfield. He suffered injuries that were described as critical. His current condition is not known.
Investigators are continuing their work on the details of the incident.
