Los Angeles Subway Train Hits and Kills Pedestrian in Westlake District

LOS ANGELES, CA (May 13, 2021) – Late in the morning on Wednesday in the Westlake District of Los Angeles, a pedestrian was struck and killed by a Metro subway train. The May 12 incident occurred at the Westlake/MacArthur Park Metro station.

The time was roughly 10:45 a.m., Nicholas Prange said. Prange is a spokesperson for the Los Angeles Fire Department.

When responders arrived, they found the victim was beneath the train. The person was not trapped, reports say, and responders could reach the person by using a crawl space located below the structure of the platform.

Responders transported the patient to the hospital, where the person died. The identity of the person, including name, age, gender, and city of residence, has not been reported.

No details have been reported on how the incident happened, and how the person came to be on the tracks. Investigators are working to understand the crash, and for that effort, they are continuing to collect details and information.
