Los Angeles Police Vehicle Crashes into Studio City Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf Cafe
STUDIO CITY, CA (June 3, 2020) – On Monday night, a patrol vehicle carrying four Los Angeles Police officers crashed in Studio City, injuring two of the officers. The June 1 incident occurred at the Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf cafe, located at 12501 Ventura Boulevard, close to Whitsett Avenue.
The time was roughly 7:40 p.m., according to Mike Lopez and Nicholas Prange. Lopez is an officer with the Los Angeles Police. Prange is with the Los Angeles Fire Department.
Reports say four officers had been traveling together when a vehicle–described only as a civilian car–accidentally cut off the patrol vehicle. The person who had been driving the patrol vehicle swerved to miss striking the civilian car. The patrol vehicle smashed into the cafe.
Responders arrived on scene. Two of the officers were reported to have suffered injuries that were described as minor. They were taken to a hospital.
It is not known if anyone else was hurt in the crash. The officers who had been traveling in the patrol vehicle have not been identified, nor has the driver.
The person who had been driving the civilian vehicle has also not been identified, including name, age, gender, and city of residence. It is not known if the civilian vehicle had any passengers at the time of the incident.
Investigators are working to collect details and information regarding the crash.
