Stockton Big Rig Fiery Crash Kills 1

Stockton, CA – A serious collision leaves one person dead a car torn in half and a semi-truck in ashes early Wednesday morning on a Stockton intersection.

The accident occurred near the intersection of Maricopa Road and Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard at about 6:00 a.m. A Honda sedan was in the lane heading east when it drifted into the westbound lane crashing head on with a big rig transporting garbage that was heading west. The sedan was totaled, the front part with the steering wheel and engine ripped off from the rest of the vehicle. The impact overturned the semi-truck into a nearby embankment where it caught on fire.
Rescuers rushed both injured drivers to the hospital. The driver of the sedan was pronounced dead at the hospital. The big rig motorist was treated for minor injuries.
Stockton Police are further investigating the accident. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard remains closed.
