SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, CA (June 28, 2018) – A hit-and-run driver struck a 33-year-old South Lake Tahoe man who was riding a bicycle Tuesday on Highway 50 just east of Emerald Bay Road. The bicyclist died from his injuries.
South Lake Tahoe police responded to a call around 5:45 a.m. Wednesday about a man found in a ditch near a Motel 6. Construction workers reportedly found the body by the side of the road of Highway 50.
The bicyclist was probably traveling south across the eastbound lanes of the highway, according to California Highway Patrol, when he was hit in the lane closest to the sidewalk by a vehicle heading eastbound at an unknown speed.
The driver fled the scene, leaving the bicyclist. The bicyclist dies from his injuries. CHP asks that anyone with information contact their South Lake Tahoe office at 530-577-1001.
