Man Identified as Victim Killed in Somis Crash on Highway 118
SOMIS, CA (May 28, 2020) – Matthew Mackenzie was identified by the Ventura County Medical Examiner’s Office as the victim who was killed in a Tuesday morning crash in Somis. The May 26 incident occurred on Highway 118, near La Cumbre Road and to the west of it.
The time was roughly 8:40 a.m., according to the California Highway Patrol.
Reports say Mackenzie had been traveling east on the highway in a Nissan sedan. For reasons that are not known, the Nissan went into the lane of oncoming traffic and collided with two vehicles. The first was described as a flatbed truck, and the second was a vehicle described as a semi-truck that was pulling a flatbed trailer.
Another vehicle, described as a Hyundai sedan, was also involved in the crash.
Responders arrived and pronounced Mackenzie deceased at the incident site. He was a resident of Camarillo, 28 years old.
The drivers of the three other vehicles involved in the crash have not been identified in reports. It is not known if the other vehicles contained passengers at the time of the crash.
According to reports, no other person was hurt in the incident.
Investigators are continuing their work on gathering information about the crash.
