Three Sequential Crashes on Highway 101 in Santa Maria Cause Damage
SANTA MARIA, CA (October 16, 2019) – Early in the morning on Tuesday in Santa Maria, three sequential crashes on Highway 101 caused damage and traffic delays. The October 15 incidents occurred on the northbound side of the highway, on the Santa Maria River Bridge.
Reports say the first incident occurred at roughly a little after 6:00 a.m. In that incident, three vehicles collided. The vehicles have not bee described. It is not known from reports how the vehicles collided, and what line of travel they had been taking prior to the crash.
None of the drivers involved in the incident have been identified. It is not known if anyone else had been an occupant of any of the vehicles in that collision. Reports do not say if anyone was hurt.
At a little before 6:15 a.m., a second collision occurred. Two vehicles collided in an area close to the off-ramp for the 166. The vehicles have not been described. It is not known from reports how those vehicles collided.
The drivers have not been identified, and it is not known if anyone had been traveling as a passenger in either vehicle involved in the second crash. It is not known if injuries occurred.
At roughly 6:20 a.m., a third collision occurred. Two vehicles—described as a sedan and a semi-truck—collided in an area near the off-ramp for the 166, and to the south of it.
The driver of each vehicle has not been identified. It is not known if there were any passengers in the vehicles, and if anyone was injured.
Investigators are working to collect details and information about the three separate incidents to understand their causes.
