Hit-and-run Driver Smashes into Wall and Building on Stowell Road in Santa Maria

SANTA MARIA, CA (June 23, 2020) – A driver suspected of hit-and-run smashed into a wall and building in Santa Maria early in the morning on Sunday. The June 21 incident occurred at 1225 W. Stowell Road, and caused significant damage.

The time was roughly 4:40 a.m., according to Santa Maria Police.

Reports say video from a surveillance camera recorded a vehicle–described as a 2010 Chevrolet Silverado with extended cab, dark in color–backing into a wall. According to police, the crash damaged the wall and the building next to it. The wall had structural damage that was described as catastrophic.

Santa Maria Police say the pickup truck has California license plate number 33380B1. They describe the driver as roughly 25 to 30 years old, approximately 5 feet 9 inches in height. The suspect has a mustache, goatee, and black hair, according to police.

Investigators are searching for the suspect driver and the vehicle. If anyone has information about the incident, the person can contact the Traffic Department of Santa Maria Police. The number is 805-928-3781, ext. 1355.

The owner(s) of the wall and building have not been identified in reports.
