Hit-and-run Crash in Santa Maria Injures Pedestrian; Driver Sought by Police
SANTA MARIA, CA (January 20, 2021) – Early in the evening on Saturday, a hit-and-run driver seriously injured a pedestrian in Santa Maria. Authorities are searching for the suspect involved in the crash, which occurred on Blosser Road close to the intersection with Cook Street.
The time was roughly 6:20 p.m., Santa Maria Police said.
The pedestrian had been crossing Blosser Street, and a vehicle–described as a sedan, dark in color–struck the person. Witness statements and video recorded by a surveillance camera indicate the car left the scene, reports say. Authorities found parts of the vehicle at the crash site.
The driver did not stop to help the victim.
Responders arrived and transported the patient to a hospital. The person suffered major injuries, reports say. The current condition of the person has not been reported, nor has the identity.
Investigators are searching for the vehicle involved in the crash, and the suspect driver, who has not been described.
