Two-vehicle Collision on Highway 101 Near Santa Margarita Causes Injuries
SANTA MARGARITA, CA (July 19, 2019) – Two vehicles collided in the morning on Thursday on Highway 101 near Santa Margarita, causing injuries, damage, and traffic slowdowns. The July 18 incident occurred on the southbound side of the highway, close to the offramp for Highway 58.
The time was roughly 7:45 a.m., the California Highway Patrol said.
Reports say two vehicles collided, but the types of vehicles involved have not been described. It is not known from reports where each vehicle had been traveling prior to the collision, and whether the incident was a rear-end or side-swipe type of crash.
According to reports, the incident caused minor injuries, though the victims have not been identified. It is not known who the driver of each vehicle was, including the person’s name, age, gender, and city of residence. It is also not known if either of the vehicles involved had passengers aboard, and whether the injuries reported happened to a driver, a passenger, or both.
The incident caused traffic to back up to Atascadero. Investigators are working to understand the incident’s circumstances, and what caused the collision.
