Deputy Injured in Santa Clarita Crash Involving Semi Truck and Patrol Motorcycle
SANTA CLARITA, CA (April 29, 2021) – Early in the morning on Wednesday in Santa Clarita, a semi truck and a patrol motorcycle collided, injuring Deputy Chad Perrigo. The April 28 incident occurred close to where McBean Parkway and Creekside Road intersect.
The time was roughly 7:20 a.m., according to the Santa Clarita Sheriff’s Station.
Perrigo, who is a deputy with the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department, had been on the motorcycle and doing routine patrol when the crash occurred, according to reports.
No details have been reported on how the collision happened. Responders arrived and found the motorcycle lodged partway beneath the front of the truck. The truck may have been in the process of making a turn to the left to enter a driveway when the crash happened, reports say.
Responders transported Perrigo to a hospital in the area. The injuries he suffered were described as serious. His current condition was described as stable but critical.
Perrigo was identified by Sheriff Alex Villanueva in reports.
The driver of the semi truck remained at the crash site and cooperated with the investigation. The identity of the driver, including name, age, and city of residence, has not been reported.
Investigators are working to understand the incident.
