Santa Barbara Hit-and-run Crash on Highway 101 Kills Pedestrian
SANTA BARBARA, CA (June 22, 2022) – Early in the morning on Monday in Santa Barbara, a hit-and-run driver struck and killed a pedestrian on Highway 101. The June 20 crash occurred near La Cumbre Road, and to the north of it, on the northbound side of the roadway.
The time was roughly 6:45 a.m., the California Highway Patrol said.
A vehicle–described as an SUV–struck the pedestrian who was on the roadway, according to authorities.
The person who was driving the vehicle did not stop or help the victim.
Responders transported the victim to Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital for medical help, but he died in the hospital from the injuries he suffered.
His identity, including name, age, and city of residence, has not been reported.
Investigators are searching for the suspect hit-and-run driver, and the vehicle involved in the crash.
