Eight Vehicles Crash on Highway 154 in Santa Barbara County, Causing Injuries
SANTA BARBARA COUNTY, CA (March 11, 2021) – Eight vehicles were involved in crashes on Highway 154 in Santa Barbara County on Wednesday morning, causing injuries. The March 10 incidents occurred near Lake Cachuma during a period of hail and snow on the roadway.
The time was roughly 10:30 a.m., according to Daniel Bertucelli, who is a captain with Santa Barbara County Fire.
As many as three collisions occurred at the Cold Spring Bridge, Bertucelli said. The collisions occurred at both ends of the bridge.
All of the vehicles that collided have not been described, and the manner in which each vehicle was involved in the crashes has also not been described.
According to reports, a child five years of age suffered injuries to the face that were described as minor. It is not known which vehicle the child had been traveling in.
Another person also suffered injuries that were described as minor. The person’s identity has not been reported.
One of the collisions involved a sedan–black in color–and a motorhome.
Another vehicle–which has not been described–went off of Highway 154 in an area near Paradise Road. Reports do not describe the vehicle, and it is not known if anyone was injured in that vehicle.
None of the drivers involved in the crash have been identified, nor the passengers.
Responders from the California Highway Patrol, Santa Barbara County Fire, and the U.S. Forest Service arrived on scene to help.
Investigators are working on understanding the details of each crash.
