Vehicle Struck by Officer During Pursuit in Santa Ana, Injuring Two

SANTA ANA, CA (November 11, 2019) – Early in the morning on Saturday, an officer who was en route to respond to a pursuit in Santa Ana crashed into another vehicle. The November 9 incident occurred where East Camille Street and South Main Street intersect.

The time was roughly 2:00 a.m., according to Sergeant Achziger, who is with the Santa Ana Police.

Reports say the officer’s vehicle crashed into a vehicle described as a BMW. During the incident, one of the vehicles hit a light pole, but it is not known which vehicle struck the pole, police said. The pole was knocked down.

It is not known if the lights on the patrol vehicle were illuminated and siren activated at the time of the incident, according to a spokesperson with the Santa Ana Police.

Responders arrived and took the person who had been driving the BMW, and the officer, to hospitals. According to authorities, the officer suffered injuries that were described as minor.

The officer received treatment and was released. The officer’s identity, including name and gender, has not been reported.

The person who had been driving the BMW that was struck has not been identified, including name, age, gender, and city of residence. The types of injuries the person suffered, and the victim’s current condition, are not known.

Investigators are continuing to work on gathering information and details to understand the circumstances of the incident.
