Santa Ana, CA – Plane Wreck Kills Lara Shepherd, Scott Shepherd, Nasim Ghanadan, Floria Hakimi, and Navid Hakimi

SANTA ANA, CA (August 6, 2018) – Lara Shepherd, Scott Shepherd, Nasim Ghanadan, Floria Hakimi, and Navid Hakimi died in a plane wreck in Santa Ana on Sunday afternoon.
The plane the victims were traveling in crashed around 12:30 p.m. on South Bristol Street and West MacArthur Boulevard in a shopping center parking lot.
The five travelers had been heading for John Wayne Airport, which is located near the site where they crashed, southeast by a mile. The pilot was Scott Shepherd, who is described as a 53 years old.
Also traveling in the plane were Lara Shepherd, who is described as 42 years old; Floria Hakimi, 62 years old; Nasim Ghanadan, 29 years old; and Navid Hakimi, 32 years old.
Reports say that Scott allegedly transmitted the call “Mayday”, which is a spoken distress signal that indicates a life-threatening emergency.
The trouble with the airplane is not known at this time.
Witnesses saw the plane heading nose down before it crashed into the ground at the parking lot. It struck a vehicle that was parked, but not occupied, close to the CVS store.
According to the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), the plane was a 1973 twin-engine Cessna 414. It was registered to a business based in San Francisco, Category III Aviation Corp. The flight originated in the Bay Area city of Concord.

According to reports, crews on the ground cleaned fuel that spilled from the crash. The plane did not catch on fire. No people who who were on the ground were injured in the crash.
Officials from the FAA, and from the National Transportation Safety Board arrived on scene to conduct an investigation into the cause of the crash.
