Pedestrian Killed on South Fairview Street in Santa Ana by Hit-and-run Driver
SANTA ANA, CA (July 6, 2020) – Early in the morning on Saturday, a hit-and-run driver struck and killed a pedestrian in Santa Ana. The July 4 incident occurred on South Fairview Street in the 2400 block.
The time was roughly 1:20 a.m., according to Santa Ana Police.
Reports say authorities received reports that a person was down on the road and had been seriously injured. Responders from Orange County Fire Authority arrived and provided medical treatment to the victim. The victim died, however, at the incident site. His identity, including name, age, and city of residence, has not been reported.
According to reports, the driver had been southbound on Fairview Street when he hit the victim. The driver did not stop and stay at the incident site.
Authorities located the vehicle involved in the crash. At a home located in the vicinity, they arrested a man on suspicion of felony hit-and-run. He was identified as Jonathan Padilla, a resident of Santa Ana, 20 years old.
Investigators are continuing their work of gathering details and information regarding the incident.
