Man Riding Bicycle Killed by Hit-and-run Driver on Newhope Street in Santa Ana
SANTA ANA, CA (November 5, 2019) – Early in the morning on Monday, a man riding a bicycle was struck and killed by a hit-and-run driver in Santa Ana. The November 4 incident occurred on Newhope Street in the 300 block, close to where Iglesia De La Comunidad is located.
The time was roughly 3:00 a.m., according to Brett Nelson. Nelson is a corporal with the Santa Ana Police.
Reports say the bicyclist was found lying in the road by responders. He was pronounced deceased at the incident site by responders from the Orange County Fire Authority.
He was later identified by the coroner’s office as 52 years old. His name and city of residence have not been reported.
According to investigators, the man had been struck by a vehicle that left the scene. The vehicle has not been described, nor the suspected hit-and-run driver. Both are being sought by authorities.
