Hit-and-run Driver Severely Injures Person Crossing Street in Wheelchair in Santa Ana

SANTA ANA, CA (July 1, 2019) – A hit-and-run driver severely injured a person in a wheelchair who was crossing the street in Santa Ana late at night on Friday. The June 28 incident occurred where Townsend Street and 1st Street intersect.

The time was roughly 10:40 p.m., according to the Santa Ana Police Department.

Reports say when officers arrived on scene, the injured person was lying in the street. Responders took the critically injured person to a hospital in the area. According to authorities, the injured person had been heading across 1st Street within a crosswalk that is marked, and a vehicle struck the victim. The driver of the vehicle drove away without helping the injured person.
