Elderly Woman Hit by Car in Santa Ana; Police Search for Friends and Family
SANTA ANA, CA (August 22, 2018) – An elderly woman was struck by a vehicle on Sunday morning in Santa Ana, and she suffered critical injuries. Police are trying to find family and friends of the 79-year-old victim.
According to reports from the Santa Ana Police Department, Connie Gale Simms was hit by a car at roughly 11:45 a.m. in the Goodwill Industries parking lot which is located on West 5th Street in the 2700 block.
When responders from the Orange County Fire Authority arrived on scene, they found that the victim was conscious and unconscious as her condition changed.
The report says that Simms had been walking through a marked crosswalk and pushing a cart at the time she was struck.
The driver remained at the accident scene and cooperated with investigators. Police do not believe that alcohol or drugs played a role.
Simms was taken to UCI Medical Center. Santa Ana Police ask that Simms’ family members, or anyone with knowledge of how to contact them, call the Collision Investigations Unit at 714-245-8200.
