San Ysidro Crash on I-5 near Via de San Ysidro Kills Pedestrian
SAN YSIDRO, CA (December 2, 2020) – Early in the morning on Tuesday in San Ysidro, a vehicle struck and killed a pedestrian on the I-5 freeway. The December 1 crash occurred in the northbound lanes, close to where Via de San Ysidro is located.
The time was roughly 12:40 a.m., the California Highway Patrol said.
Reports say a vehicle–which has not been described–struck the pedestrian, but it is not clear where the person had been walking or standing when the incident occurred.
The pedestrian was killed in the crash. The identity of the person, including name, age, gender, and city of residence, has not been reported.
The driver has also not been identified, and it is not known if the driver was injured in the incident. Reports do not say if the driver had been traveling alone, or had passengers in the vehicle.
Investigators are working to understand what circumstances occurred in connection with the crash, and why it happened.
