Bicycle Collides with Pickup Truck on West Calle Primera in San Ysidro; One Seriously Injured
SAN YSIDRO, CA (December 3, 2019) – On Sunday afternoon in San Ysidro, a bicyclist was critically injured after colliding with a pickup truck. The December 1 incident occurred on West Calle Primera in the 300 block.
The time was roughly 1:03 p.m., according to Robert Heims. Heims is an officer with the San Diego Police.
Reports say the bicyclist and the pickup truck had been heading north on West Calle Primera. For reasons that are not known, the person on the bicycle made an abrupt turn to the left in front of the pickup truck and in its path, according to reports. The pickup truck and the bicycle collided.
Responders arrived and transported the injured cyclist to a hospital. According to Heims, the cyclist suffered brain swelling and major trauma to the head. The injuries may be life threatening, according to reports.
The cyclist was identified only as 46 years old. The name, gender, and city of residence of the cyclist have not been reported.
The person who had been driving the pickup truck was identified only as a man 67 years old. His name and city of residence have not been reported.
Investigators are working to collect details and information regarding the crash.
