SAN PEDRO, CA (January 15, 2019) – A vehicle crashed on Monday afternoon in San Pedro, striking a fire hydrant and breaking it off. Water shot skyward for hours, according to officials.
The January 14 accident occurred on Pacific Avenue, close to Channel Street. The accident site was near the 110 Freeway, according to Margaret Stewart. Stewart is a spokesperson for the Los Angeles Fire Department.
The time was roughly a bit after 1:00 p.m.
Reports say the person who had been driving the vehicle—identified only as a woman—had been traveling on the road and lost control where the road curves. According to Jon Aufdemberg, who is a sergeant in the South Traffic Division of the Los Angeles Police Department, the wet weather was likely a factor in the accident.
The vehicle hit a fire hydrant, which broke it. Water shot skyward for hours, according to officials, spraying power lines.
