Boy Running at Woodland Parkway and Rock Springs Road in San Marcos Struck by Vehicle
SAN MARCOS, CA (December 17, 2019) – A boy running in an intersection in San Marcos on Monday afternoon was struck and injured by a vehicle. The December 16 incident occurred where Rock Springs Road and Woodland Parkway intersect.
The time was roughly 2:30 p.m.
Reports say a boy—identified as 12 years old—and another boy—also identified as 12 years old—ran through the intersection’s crosswalk, according to witnesses, against the light. A vehicle—described as a Nissan, white in color—which was heading to the intersection was not able to miss striking the victim. The other boy just missed being struck, according to the San Diego County Sheriff.
Responders arrived and transported the injured boy by airlift to Rady Children’s Hospital in San Diego, according to Nancy Blanco. Blanco is a lieutenant. The boy’s condition has not been reported, nor has his name.
The person who had been driving the vehicle remained at the incident site. Reports say people who witnessed the incident, and staff members of Woodland Park Middle School—which is closeby—helped the boy until responders came on scene.
Investigators are working to collect details and information regarding the incident. If anyone has information about the crash, the person should call David J. Arnold, Sr., who is a deputy. The number is 760-510-5200.
