Vehicle Overturns in Crash on Highway 101 Near San Luis Obispo

SAN LUIS OBISPO, CA (June 21, 2019) – A collision on Highway 101, in which one of the vehicles overturned, caused injuries Thursday afternoon near San Luis Obispo. The June 20 incident happened on the northbound side of the highway, between Higuera Street and San Luis Bay Drive.

The time was roughly 12:20 p.m., the California Highway Patrol said.

Reports say two vehicles collided, and one of the vehicles overturned. One of the vehicles involved was described as a Ford Fiesta, silver in color. The person who had been driving the Ford, according to the California Highway Patrol, attempted to change lanes. She did not see a vehicle in the lane next to her. The Ford collided with another vehicle, described as an SUV.

One of the vehicles rolled over, but it is not clear from reports which vehicle that was. Responders from CAL FIRE arrived and worked to extricate a victim from the overturned vehicle.

Responders transported the person who had been driving the Ford to a hospital. The types of injuries she suffered have not been reported. Her identity, including name, age, and city of residence, has not been reported.

The occupants of the SUV—described as a family—have not been identified. It is not known who the driver was, including the person’s name, age, gender, and city of residence. It is not known from reports if anyone in the SUV was injured, and what the injuries may have been.

The work to understand the crash’s details is continuing, and investigators are examining the information.
