SAN JUAN CAPISTRANO, CA (July 17, 2018) – Maureen Mendoza died in a crash on the Ortega Highway in San Juan Capistrano early Tuesday morning.
The crash occurred on the highway at Rancho Carrillo Road, a little before 5:30 a.m. Mendoza was driving a 2006 BMW. California Highway Patrol says her vehicle swerved out of her lane and crashed with a Chevrolet. A coroner, who was called to the scene, pronounced her deceased at the scene of the accident. Mendoza was 43 years old.
The report says the person who was driving the Chevrolet suffered severe injuries. Responders took the victim to a hospital in the area. According to the report, alcohol and drugs did not play a role in the accident.
Investigators are continuing their examination of the details.
