MTS Bus Runs Over Woman’s Foot in El Cerrito Area
SAN DIEGO, CA (March 13, 2025) – A 50-year-old woman suffered serious foot injuries after a San Diego Metropolitan Transit System (MTS) bus ran over her foot Thursday afternoon on University Avenue in El Cerrito.
The incident occurred at 4:54 p.m. on March 13 in the 6000 block of University Avenue, according to the San Diego Police Department.
The Woman Lost Her Balance Picking Up A Water Bottle Before Her Foot Got Run Over
Authorities say the woman had bent down to pick up a fallen water bottle in front of the bus’s rear right tire when she lost her balance and fell forward. A second person attempted to pull her back, but as the bus began moving, it ran over her left foot, causing multiple fractures and loss of skin below the ankle.
The 63-year-old MTS bus driver told investigators the bus had been stopped along the south curb line before the incident.
The Woman Was Transported, By Paramedics, To A Nearby Hospital
Paramedics transported the injured woman to a nearby hospital, where she received treatment for her injuries.
