Pedestrian Struck and Injured on 54th St. in Chollas Creek Area of San Diego, CA
SAN DIEGO, CA (June 21, 2022) – Early in the morning on Tuesday in San Diego, a pedestrian was struck and seriously injured. The June 21 crash occurred in the area of Chollas Creek, on 54th Street in the 3600 block.
The time was roughly 12:20 a.m., John Buttle said. Buttle is an officer with the San Diego Police Department.
According to reports, the pedestrian was going across the roadway, not within a crosswalk, when a vehicle struck him.
Authorities allege the pedestrian ran in front of the SUV, described as a Mercury Mountaineer.
Responders transported the patient to the hospital. He suffered injuries that were described as life threatening, including a laceration to his liver, a broken femur and knee, and broken ribs.
He was identified only as 50 years old. His name and city of residence have not been reported.
The driver was identified only as 33 years old. The driver’s name and city of residence are not known from reports.
Investigators are currently at work on the crash details, and they are continuing to collect information.
