Man Killed in Pedestrian Accident in San Diego
San Diego, CA (April 1, 2024) – A tragic pedestrian accident claimed the life of a 40-year-old man on Monday evening at the intersection of Mira Mesa Boulevard and Westview Parkway.
The fatal incident occurred at approximately 7:39 p.m. on April 1, as reported by the Police Department. The man was crossing the street from north to south when he was hit by a black 2001 Ford Expedition driven by a 70-year-old man.
Authorities stated that the victim was not using a crosswalk and was crossing in violation of posted signs prohibiting pedestrian crossing.
Police Have Determined That Alcohol Has Not Played Apart In The Accident
Emergency medical services rushed to the scene and transported the victim to a hospital with severe injuries, including multiple fractures, collapsed lungs, and blunt force trauma. Unfortunately, the man succumbed to his injuries shortly after.
Investigations by the San Diego Police Department indicate that impaired driving was not a factor in the collision. However, the crash remains under investigation to determine further details.
