Man Struck Dead Following Multi-Car Crash on 5 Fwy in San Diego
San Diego, CA (October 26, 2023) – A fatal incident occurred on Sunday night as a man lost his life in the aftermath of a multi-car collision on the 5 Freeway near Highway 163.
Accident Started When One Nissan Slammed Into Another Nissan Disabled In the Middle of the Northbound 5 Freeway
According to reports, the harrowing crash transpired at approximately 8:29 p.m. when a Nissan Altima became disabled for reasons yet to be determined, occupying the middle lanes of the northbound 5 Freeway. In a sequence of events, an oncoming Nissan Versa collided with the disabled Altima, rendering the Versa immobile and devoid of lights.
In a desperate bid to avoid further danger, four individuals exited the disabled Nissan Versa. Tragically, an oncoming BMW 428i crashed into their vehicle, striking two of the individuals who were standing outside the Versa during the impact.
Paramedics Swiftly Transported 2 Individuals To A Nearby Hospital
Swiftly responding to the distress call, paramedics arrived on the scene and transported two individuals with severe injuries to a nearby hospital. Regrettably, one of them, identified as a 37-year-old Mexican national, succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead.
Authorities, in their preliminary investigations, have not found evidence suggesting the involvement of driving under the influence (DUI) in the collision.
