4 Injured in Suspected DUI Crash at Carl’s Jr. Drive-Thru in San Diego
San Diego, CA (October 3, 2023) – A suspected DUI rollover crash on Kearny Mesa Road Saturday night, September 30, has left four individuals injured, according to the San Diego Police Department.
23 Year Old Man Driving a 1990 Toyota Tacoma Failed To Navigate The Curve
The incident unfolded around 6:30 p.m. in the 4000 block of Kearny Mesa Road when a 23-year-old man, behind the wheel of a 1990 Toyota Tacoma, was traveling southbound. Regrettably, the driver failed to navigate the road’s curve, colliding with a curb. The impact launched the pickup truck into a perilous rollover, ultimately crashing into the Carl’s Jr. drive-thru wall.
Following the initial collision, the overturned pickup truck also rear-ended a 2001 Honda Accord in the queue.
Passengers In The Rear of a Honda Suffered Broken Ribs, Head Lacerations Among Other Injuries
The consequences were severe, with the driver of the Tacoma sustaining major injuries, including a fractured vertebra and a brain bleed. In the rear seat of the Honda, a passenger suffered fractured ribs, while the front-seat occupant incurred a head cut. The driver of the Honda, a 40-year-old woman, reported pain as a result of the crash.
The San Diego Police Department‘s traffic division has taken charge of the investigation. Authorities suspect that the driver of the Tacoma was under the influence of alcohol at the time of the incident.
